And then there are some simple steps that can help you to remove the purple shampoo stain from your carpet, and the methods are described in this article.

Let’s know how to get purple shampoo out of carpet in seven simple steps.

Equipment You Will Need

Large Bowls, Warm Water, Dish Liquid, Distilled Vinegar, Ammonia, Toothbrush, Microfiber Cloth, White Dry Cloth, Paper Towel, Spray Bottle, Hand Gloves, Face Mask, Goggles, etc.

Step one: Immediate Cleaning

Just after noticing the shampoo, run and bring the paper towel. Now blot the affected area with the paper towel and try to take off as much shampoo you can. If you don’t have a paper towel, you can use any dry cloth. Just be sure to wipe off the spills before it sticks or more time passes.

Step two: Making Cleaning Solution

Let’s move on to the next step and make the cleaning solutions here. To save the carpet from harsh chemicals, we will use DIY homemade cleaning solutions that are totally harmless. Here we will use three different solutions, don’t worry; we will mention when you have to use which solution and why.

(To be safe from any type of skin damage or other physical damages, ensure you have worn the protective gears)

Cleaning solution 1 (Dish Liquid & Warm Water):

Take a bowl, fill one cup of lukewarm in it, add ¼ cup of mild dish liquid, and mix until dish liquid dissolves and some bubbles show up. Make sure you use dish liquid, not dish soap, and must be mild ones.

Cleaning Solution 2 (Vinegar & Warm Water):

Take a big bowl, fill two cups of lukewarm in it, add one cup of distilled vinegar and mix well. Ensure you are using distilled vinegar; white vinegar can leave a residue stain.

Cleaning Solution 3 (Ammonia & Warm Water):

Take another bowl, fill one cup of lukewarm water, add one tablespoon of ammonia and give it a good stir. Ammonia is highly effective, but don’t use it frequently. Use it only when others aren’t effective.

Step Three: Clean the Purple Shampoo

Take a microfiber cloth, dip in solution one, squeeze extra water and wipe away the effective area. Here you can also take help from a toothbrush to make the work easier. Now the affected area is wet with the solution, use the toothbrush and scrub the area to loosen the shampoo faster. Make sure you scrub gently, and harsh scrubbing can damage the carpet and spread the mess up.

Wipe away, scrub with the brush, repeat the process a few times until the slippy shampoo comes out fully.

Step Four: Use Cleaning Solution 2

After following step three and trying hard if it seems dish liquid isn’t enough to remove the purple shampoo stains, it’s time to proceed with the cleaning solution 2. Take the solution, pour some of it in a spray bottle, and spray directly on the affected area.

Now use a toothbrush and again scrub gently. Scrub, respray the solution, and scrub; follow this a few times. Vinegar will remove the stain almost but can’t remove it totally.

Why? Because if it was removable, dish liquid was enough. As dish liquid couldn’t work, you have to use vinegar and then the cleaning solution three.

Step Five: Use Cleaning Solution 3

Removing the stain flawlessly isn’t the only reason you have to use ammonia. Vinegar will leave a smell that is absolutely not good, so you have to use ammonia to remove that shadow stain and vinegar smells.

The process will be the same as step four. Put the solution in a spray bottle, spray directly and scrub with a toothbrush.

Step Six: Clean With Fresh Water

Cleaning with a solution and getting rid of stain may seem the process is complete, but it’s not. After using the cleaning solution, we have to use fresh water to clean the solution.

Take a bucket filled with cold water, damp cloth into it, squeeze the cloth and wipe away the affected area. Do it a few times until the cloth comes clean after cleaning the residue.

Step Seven: Wipe Away The Excess moisture

Take a white microfiber cloth or any dry white dry cloth, place over the affected area, and press firmly. This will remove the excess moisture from the carpet.

After doing it once, if it seems some moisture is still available, do it again. But make sure to use one cloth only one time; while repeating this, use another new dry cloth. Using the same cloth can retransfer the color in the carpet.

Once it’s done, leave the carpet to dry naturally or use a fan for quick dry. Avoid using a hairdryer or vacuum cleaner; these can damage the carpet fibers.
